本廟始建於清嘉慶九年，甲子夏季（民國前一百零八年），初期只有茅屋三間，只奉祀關聖帝君。咸豐七年，丁巳夏季（民國前五十五年）改為土牆瓦頂，並增建東西廂房及兩房護廊，以供香客休憩。改建時經乩童扶鸞得帝君指示，築新殿於黃蜂出巢靈穴，即現在的殿位，後倚五峰旗，下臨太平洋，背山面水，香火日漸鼎盛。清同治六年丁卯（民國前四十五年），鎮臺使劉明燈提督巡察噶瑪蘭廳，表請勅建『協天廟』。協天廟, 礁溪協天廟, 宜蘭協天廟, 宜蘭縣勅建礁溪協天廟, 捐獻, 信徒捐奉, 關公, 關聖帝君, 歷史淵源, 活動慶典, 公益文化, 聖祖殿介紹, 膳宿資訊, 交通資訊, 祈安消災法會, 光明燈, 線上光明燈, 安太歲, 線上安太歲, 祈福法會, 線上祈福法會, 聯絡信箱廟貌關公武佾舞緣起沿革聖旨牌舊廟神轎老戲臺虎皮木刀獻金印建醮大龜慶典多尋根祖廟忠義脈公益文化你我他膳宿交通歡迎您. 關聖帝君老二帝礁溪無協天宮，只有協天廟，有些人將協天廟說成協天宮是錯誤的。協天廟的祭典以春秋祭典與乞龜為主，每年此時，各地分靈廟都會回協天廟進香，正殿內供滿了上千座的關帝君神像，
